Malcolm Gladwell’s Canadian Butter Tarts

  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup raisins or chopped pecans (optional)
  • 12 tart shells

Preheat oven to 375°F. Mix butter, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth. Divide raisins or pecans into tart shells, if using. Pour filling evenly into shells. Bake for 15-20 minutes until the filling is set and the shells are golden. Cool before serving.

After studying history at the University of Toronto, Gladwell became a journalist, eventually writing for The Washington Post and The New Yorker. He gained fame as the author of bestsellers like The Tipping Point, Blink, and Outliers, known for exploring the unexpected factors that shape our world.
