Did you Know?
Did you know that most adults are lactose intolerant? Babies produce an abundance of an enzyme called lactase, which breaks down the lactose sugar in milk. However, nearly two-thirds of people stop producing this enzyme when they become adults, which is why they can no longer digest the sugar in milk. According to scientific studies, people who can drink milk as adults have a genetic DNA mutation where a cytosine (C) nucleotide in a person’s DNA is replaced with a thymine (T) nucleotide, which allows them to digest milk.
